Born and raised in Bristol, England I moved to Toronto at the age of 20 studying Fashion at Ryerson Polytechnic. I started a company called Solosport where I designed and manufactured active sportswear which although interesting and challenging didn’t provide enough opportunities for me to develop my own textiles. Now I use my love of free motion machine embroidery using miles of many colours of thread to create beautiful textile vases, cuffs, and art quilts. Sometimes there are layers of free motion machine embroidery creating an intense depth of colour which moves around the pieces. Other times there is a simple juxtaposition of interesting fabrics enhanced by machine embroidery.

Artist Statement
Textiles and colour are what I love. Creating art quilts, textile vases and cuffs using strips of fabric, yarns and miles of luscious threads is heaven. The depth of texture and colour that can be produced with a thin line of thread made with free motion machine embroidery I find exciting and I am constantly exploring what that line can do. I want to make others excited by textiles, to look closer, to want to touch. Inspiration comes from nature – the bark of a tree, the blue shadows of trees on the snow in winter, the crazy juxtaposition of colours seen in flowers
